Sheffield structural engineers aim to raise £25,000

31st January 2019

This year local Sheffield structural engineering company Apex Consulting have challenged themselves to raise a staggering £25,000 for The Children’s Hospital Charity by taking part in various events throughout 2019. After supporting the charity previously through fundraising days and annually sponsoring one of the charity’s iconic Snowflakes, the team decided to take it up another Apex Consulting and commit to a bigger goal.

The main event for the team will be the National Three Peaks Challenge in June when they will be conquering the UK’s highest mountains in 24 hours: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden. If that wasn’t enough for them, they will also be taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon, a skydive, the Outlaw Triathlon Nottingham, the Sheffield Easter Egg Run and more. The team will be starting with The Children’s Hospital Charity Golden Hour Challenge on Friday 1st March by collecting rubbish for 60 minutes around their office off the Parkway.

Wayne Ballance, Managing Director of Apex Consulting, said: “The Apex team are committed to completing a number of events this year for The Children’s Hospital Charity. Our commitment to this year’s challenge will not only help us grow together as a team but help us raise vital funds for such a good cause.”
The total raised by Apex Consulting throughout 2019 will go to The Children’s Hospital Charity’s £14.25m Building a Better Future appeal to redevelop the Emergency Department and Cancer and Leukaemia ward, as well as build a brand-new Helipad at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. It follows the completion of the Make it Better campaign which raised over £10m towards three world-class new hospital wards, which opened to young patients and their families in April 2018.
Alison Riley, Corporate Partnerships Officer at The Children’s Hospital Charity added: “It’s fantastic to see the Apex Consulting team commit to raise such an incredible fundraising total for Sheffield Children’s Hospital this year.

“We are at the beginning of our biggest-ever fundraising appeal and these projects have never been more needed. Every penny will make a difference to the thousands of young patients from across the UK and beyond, who depend on our hospital’s excellent care.”
